Australian National Aviation Museum, Moorabbin
Melbourne is not short of Museums for families. But did you know this city is home to The Australian National Aviation Museum, where you can find a fantastic collection of rare and unique examples of Australian made aircraft.
There is an impressive range of planes, engines, uniforms and models.
You will also find the only Beau fighter left in the world capable of ground running an engine, and the oldest surviving Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC) aircraft.

Australian National Aviation Museum for Kids
This museum is not your average walk-about museum.
Adult plane enthusiasts will certainly marvel at the display and enjoy learning about the history of Australian aviation. However, it is the kids that will have the most amazing time.
As you wander through the hanger and outdoor areas, you’ll find quite a few planes with staircases beside them — these are planes that your littles one (and you) can jump into and explore!
From some of the first commercial planes with rows of seats and a military helicopter, to jet plans and emptied cargo jets — the kids are allowed to walk into and play with everything inside.
Their imaginations will run wild as they sit in the cockpit and play with the hundreds of buttons and switches.

There are also two pre-recorded flight simulators, allowing the kids to take in the sights of flying, from the safety of the ground.
Once the kids have worked up an appetite, head down the road to The Naked Racer — a quirky motorcycle museum, restaurant and bar.
Again, kids and adults alike can wander through the museum/shop filled floor to ceiling with antique neon signs, funky figurines and hundreds of motorcycles. They offer big meals, refreshing drinks and a kids menu.
