Ballarat Wildlife Park, Get Up close to Native Australian Animals
One of the best places to see Australian animals, especially kangaroos in Melbourne is the Ballarat Wildlife Park. You are literally surrounded by these native animals as you walk through the entrance. Just 90 minutes from Melbourne, the Wildlife park is one of the top places to visit in Ballarat, especially for families.

Feed Kangaroos near Melbourne
We are big fans of the Melbourne Zoo’s, in fact we often visit each one on a regular basis. However, an experience such as one at the Ballarat Wildlife Park cannot be compared.
Usually for an animal encounter, you need to pay extra to get up close to the animals. However, at the Ballarat Wildlife Park, there are over 100 kangaroos roaming freely and there is no extra cost to pat and feed the kangaroos, except to buy the food.
You won’t have to search to find them either, these fascinating animals will greet you at the entry, and you will be surrounded in no time. The kids love it, (and so do the adults too!)
Ballarat Wildlife Park Tour
At 11am every day you can join the guided tour which is an easy walk around the park by one of the expert guides.
Here you can get up close to lots of native Australian animals such as koalas, echidna, emus and wombats, and also see other animals including tigers, salt water crocodiles penguins, and some of the most venomous snakes in the world.
