With their clear waters, white sand, the country itself is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Asia. With so many beautiful islands and stunning coastlines, it isn’t easy to come up with the best beaches in Thailand, but we have tried!

Find below some of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand that cannot be missed whether you are a solo traveller, visiting in a couple or with your family.
Malibu Beach, Koh Phangan
To kick of our list of the best beaches in Thailand, let’s start with Malibu beach which lies in Chaloklum. A walk over a small bridge takes you to the fine crystalized white sands of this beautiful heaven. The turquoise water and sand bar that reaches far out makes for a perfect snorkel day. The scenic background offers the mountains of Koh Phangan, many palm trees and people from all over the world playing and sunbathing.
Since this beach is such a sand bar during low tide, many people float in the water, kayak, paddle board and snorkel. There is a restaurant located right on the beach for that mid-day snack while you watch volleyballers score goals on the nets of Malibu Beach. Tourist often times fly into Surat Thani International Airport or Koh Samui and take a boat to the island of Koh Phangan.
Koh Nang Yuan, Surat Thani Province
If you like seclusion and being where the crowds are less, then this private island might be a top pick. A lot of tourists come here for a day trip to dive and snorkel due to it being a short boat ride away from the dive capital of Thailand, Koh Tao.
Excursions are offered here daily and is perfect for a family outing. Once here, visitors zip line, kayak, swim and snorkel. W
hat tourist love most about Koh Nang is the walking path that overlooks the highest peak on Thailand for incredible views after only 15 minuets on foot. The easiest way to get here is to either fly into Surat Thani or Koh Samui Airports before getting a ferry to Koh Tao and then another ferry to Koh Nang Yuan.
Railay Beach, Krabi
If you are looking for a beach with incredible scenery, then Railay Beach is a must. With stunning lime stone cliffs and a white sandy beach that surround the island, it is hard to find yourself getting out of the crystal clear blue salty waters. A great place for exploring, Railay Beach has coves and caves for adventure seekers and if you are daring enough rock climbing is one of the must do activities here. Other activities include kayaking, paddle boarding and snorkeling.
Railay Beach is located 4km from Krabi town, which is where most tourist fly into before wandering the beaches of Thailand. There are surrounding islands that you can take boats from but to access Railay Beach you must take a long tail boat to the tiny but exquisite island. Not the easiest to arrive to, but worth it to see one of the best beaches in Thailand.
Mai Khao Beach
Located in Phuket, this 17.5 km this beautiful beach in Thailand stretches with its thick white sand and its turquoise wavy water. Phuket is a booming city where many tourists come to lavish in the culture of Southern Thailand’s beauty. With many hotels and restaurants around, there is plenty to do and see while spending a day here.
Tourist are often seen paragliding, kite surfing, jet skiing, swimming and more. Due to its popularity many spas and on the beach massage parlors have opened up for that perfect view of the ocean while relaxing after a sunny day. Tourist flock here from Phuket International Airport and explore the surrounding islands by boat.
Long Beach, Koh Lanta
A neighboring island which is a boat ride from Phuket lies the quite but incredible beach of Long Beach in Koh Lanta. The vibes here are a lot more mellow then Phuket’s where you can easily spend your days basking in the sun on top of curse white sand or floating in the salty blue oceans with the scenic views of Koh Phi Phi island in the background.
Tourist come here for a relaxing get away with cheaper accommodation and a variety of different foods. Since it is a more low-key beach, visitors are often seen swimming, paddle boarding, and seeking spa treatments across the long sandy beach. Koh Lanta is only accessible by boat, most tourist fly into Phuket before taking a boat here.
Lamai Beach, Koh Samui
Another of Thailand’s beaches that will take your breath away is Lamai Beach in Koh Samui. If meeting new people and enjoying a fun packed day at the beach is what you are into then Lamai Beach is the go-to spot for tourist.
Due to Koh Samui being a travel hub for getting to the southern islands, it is always crawling with people. Regardless of its crowded features, Lamai Beach offers white sandy beaches and the never-ending views of warm turquoise waters and bundles of palm trees. This spot is perfect for those that want to participate in activities other than the basic swimming and water sports. Lamai offers plenty of shopping centers, spa and restaurants all over.
Lamai Beach is located 10km from Koh Samui’s city center and most tourist flock here after arriving at the Koh Samui International Airport before taking boats to the surrounding islands. This beautiful beach in Thailand is more geared towards expats young travellers due to the night life, however the days can be enjoyed by everyone.
Ao Leuk Koh Tao
One of the best beaches in Thailand for diving and snorkeling is Ao Leuk, Koh Tao. This is the diving and snorkeling hob of Thailand. Not only its water activities, restaurants and shopping but the beautiful sand that stretches around this cove, along with the sand bars and clear waters, Ao Leuk is a beach you will keep coming back too. Most tourist arrive at Koh Samui or Surat Thani International Airports and travel by boat to Koh Tao.
Koh Tao can be booming during the night hours but in the day time it’s the perfect place to find a quit beach to settle up and relax in. With diving as its biggest attraction, tourist often take classes or certifications and dive to see turtles, shakes and fish of all different colors.
Phra Nang Beach, Krabi
There is a reason Krabi has made the list of best beaches in Thailand again, this time a more remote beach then Railay and of course only accessible by boat, Phra Nang Beach is the perfect spot to relax, explore and rock climb. With the same exquisite waters surrounding this little beach and sand perfect for making castles. Once arriving at the beach kayaks and paddle boards can be rented along with rock climbing gear.
What makes this beach cool is that there are no resorts, it is the best day get way to truly have a remote feeling day. Phra Nang Beach is located in the middle of Ao Nang Krabi, tourist come here via the Krabi International Airport and rent long tail boats to check out its many beaches.
Sunset Beach or Hat Pramong
Thailand has always been known for its unbelievable sunsets, perhaps that is where Hat Pramong gained its beach name of Sunset Beach. Tourist flock from all over to check out Koh Lipe’s delicious seafood and sunsets. This beach is more laid back then some of the popular ones in Thailand but that’s what a lot of visitors like about it. Swimming, snorkeling, paddle boarding, eating and spa treatments line the white sand and blue waters of Koh Lipe. With access only by boat, tourist often times fly into Had Yai International Airport and then take a ferry to Koh Lipe.
The Haad Mae Beach Ko Ma
One of the most popular Thailand beaches with a cool walking sand strip from Haad Mae Beach to Koh Ma Island. During low tide you are able to walk in-between the sand bar and heck out the surrounding island. This island does not have much on it though but is a perfect place to snorkel, swim and catch the sunset. Haad Mae beach also has great swimming, snorkeling and kayaking areas. Restaurants line the beach with some shopping stops as well as beach front massage parlors.
Haad Mae is one of the biggest beaches on Koh Phangan island and offers thick corse sand with views of the Marine National Park as its background. Tourist fly into Koh Samui or Sura Thani Airport and boat to the island of Koh Phangan since there is no other way of getting here. Ao Yai, Koh Phayam
One of the best beaches in Thailand to relax is Ao Yai, one of the most laid-back beaches in Thailand. This beautiful Thailand beach offers yoga, meditation and possibly some of the most chill vibes in this beautiful country.
What tourists love most about Phayam is the lack of parties, the hippie feelings and escape from reality across the white sandy beaches.
Visitors are seen basking in the sun, doing yoga, seeking massages, swimming and relaxing. Again, this beach is only accessible by boat. Tourist usually fly into Ranong International Airport and take a bus to the ferry before heading to this lovely island.
Koh Tachai, Similan Islands
Another amazing spot to see whale sharks, turtles and manta rays, Koh Tachai, Similan Island is known for its incredible diving and snorkeling. The islands are rich with marine life and offer sandy beaches that overlook the cleanest waters in Thailand. Here is where you will find the bluest of the blues in watercolor. This beautiful beach in Thailand lacks in accommodation and amenities due to its remote location but there is a camp site where stars can be seen at night after watching the epic sunset.
Due to its remote location and not very well-known beaches, Koh Tachai is perfect for relaxing, swimming and catching some of the best sunsets around. A trickier location then most of the Thai islands, Koh Tachai again is only accessible by boat. The easiest airport to fly into is Phuket where you can then take a bus and ferry to get to the islands.
