Borealis on the Lake – Experience the Northern Lights in Daylesford this winter
Seeing the Northern Lights is a bucket list dream for many of us. Having the time and resources to travel to that part of the world isn’t attainable for everyone. Luckily, you can now experience the next best thing, the stunning light installation, Borealis, over Lake Daylesford.

Swiss artist and activist, Dan Archer, created Borealis to bring the world together regardless of our differences under a blanket of illuminated beauty.
His goal was to create a sense of belonging and community, a place of tranquillity for everyone. Borealis has gone on a world tour and is now appearing over Lake Daylesford.

A mixture of mist, beams of light and our own weather blends with ambient music for a truly unique and transcendent experience.
There are food trucks serving up yummy looking bao buns and another, delicious Mexican. My kids LOVED the nachos! There’s also coffee and a local brewery providing drinks.

This is definitely a place to RUG UP! It’s cold! But the show goes on regardless of the weather conditions so plan accordingly. Gloves, hats, coats, umbrellas, the works! It rained when we went but it did not dampen the magic of the night at all.

You can bring chairs or blankets with you but there is a large cement seating area right beside the lake so plenty of space so have a seat and take in the wonder.
You are also welcome to bring well behaved pup friends but keep them on a leash at all times and please clean up after them.

The path is well established so it is easy enough for a pram or wheelchair.
There are accessible toilets with a change table right before the entrance by the Boathouse restaurant.
There is free parking but it’s not a huge parking lot so either go early or you can purchase a shuttle bus pass with your ticket that goes between the event and the Daylesford Regional Information Centre on Friday and Saturday only.
