Dreamscape & Dreamrace at The District Docklands
If you’re looking for fun indoor activities in Melbourne that will genuinely excite older kids and teens, Dreamscape and Dreamrace is the newest hotspot with a mix of games, challenges, adventure courses and VR experiences.

Located side by side the new hotspot at District Docklands is Dreamscape and DreamRace offer a mix of immersive virtual reality adventures and high-speed racing simulators, making them ideal for school holidays, weekend outings, and special family days out.
We spent the whole day here! You don’t have to, but it is easily possible with all there is to do. Our 11 and 13 year olds did not want to leave. Here’s the run down of what to expect at both.
DreamRace
DreamRace Docklands is all about speed, competition, and high-tech racing experiences.
Hurricane

Our favourite attraction here, and the highlight of this place is the VR racing simulator that flips and rotates, taking the experience to a whole new level.
This isn’t just a seat that moves slightly, the simulator tilts, spins, and flips upside down, fully syncing with the virtual race. It’s intense, exciting, and absolutely thrilling, especially for older kids and teens who love adrenaline style activities.
Dream Ronin

Dream Ronin is a high-energy obstacle course challenge inspired by video games like Super Mario. Think moving walls, shifting platforms, and plenty of moments where you’ll need quick reflexes to stay upright. It’s fun, chaotic, and finishes off with a high-speed slide (literally you speed out of the end of it!) Kids can spend as much time as they want in here up to four hours with the ticket.
Dream Ride

DreamRide is a full-on 9D virtual reality ride that hits all the senses. Wearing VR headsets, you sit on motion bikes that move with the action while wind, mist, fog, and even scents kick in at just the right moments. It’s fast, immersive, and feels incredibly real.
Dream Spartan

Dream Spartan is all about speed, balance, and agility. You have 30 minutes to race through a multi-level course, tagging light up checkpoints using a sensor wristband to score points before the clock runs out. It is competitive, fast-paced, and addictive perfect for kids who love a challenge. (Or small adults who can fit!)
Dreamscape
Dreamscape is a large immersive entertainment venue made up of multiple activities.
Dream Games

The interactive games rooms are so much fun where kids (and adults) can compete, collaborate, and try different challenges. There are 10 rooms altogether and you have about an hour to complete them. Some are fast-paced, others more skill-based, so there’s a good mix depending on what you enjoy.
Dreamverse

DreamVerse surrounds you with massive floor-to-ceiling 3D visuals, creating an immersive world without a VR headset. One minute you’re navigating space, the next you’re speeding through ancient landscapes, and every movement pulls you deeper into the experience.
Dream Coaster

One of our favs here was the Dreamcoaster, a virtual reality rollercoaster experience that feels surprisingly real. You’re fully immersed as the coaster twists, turns, and drops, and it was an instant hit with our kids (and a little nerve-wracking in the best way).

Tickets, Experiences & Packages
Both Dreamscape and DreamRace offer flexible ticketing options. You can book individual experiences, choose a few specific activities or purchase a multi-experience package to try everything.
If you’re planning to do multiple rooms or all activities, allow several hours or most of the day. Each experience is immersive, and once the kids get into it, it’s hard to leave. We spent a good 2-3 hours in each venue to do everything!
Note that some of the VR activities can make you nauseous. My kids were fine, but it gave me a bit of vertigo, and I usually love a good roller coaster or thrill ride!
Melbourne for Older Kids and Teenagers
This is one of the best options we’ve found for older kids and teens in Melbourne, especially if you’re looking beyond playgrounds and traditional attractions. Everything is indoors, well run, and easy to combine with other things to do in Docklands, including food, shopping, and events.
