Fondue Chalets at Fed Square – A Cozy Winter Experience in Melbourne

Mulled wine, cheese and chocolate fondu, marshmallows on the fire… Winter in Melbourne just got a whole lot cozier! The Fondue Chalets are back again for 2026 at Federation Square. We experienced this last year and we cannot wait to go back again this year!

A French Winter Wonderland in Melbourne

Federation Square has been turned into a little corner of the French Alps. Think twinkling fairy lights, pine trees, wooden chalets, and a sprinkle of snow. The atmosphere is so inviting, warm, charming, and beautifully themed.

The night starts with a welcome drink of mulled wine or mulled cider. You can enjoy this on the outdoor tables in the entry before heading to your beautiful wooden chalet which is the setting for some French delights.

Once you are seated your private waiter will bring out the cheese fondue, melted with white wine, kirsch, and spices. Served with crusty bread, charcuterie, and pickled goodies, it’s a fun and interactive way to dine.

If you book a late sessions, you can also indulge in the Godiva After Dark Chocolate Fondue add-on which was my absolute favourite! Served with fresh fruits it was so delicious.

You can order extra drinks from the menu which include cocktails, hot chocolate and other non alcoholic beverages as well. The evening ends sitting by your private fire outside your chalet roasting marshmallows under the stars, very cool.

Sessions are for an hour and a half, one hour in the chalet and half an hour by the fire. There are gluten free options, and kids are also welcome.

The price is $99 per person and you must book a full chalet (6-8 people). Under 6 years go free, and 6+ pay the same as adults. It’s not a cheap night out food wise, but the experience as a whole is really cool. If you LOVE cheese and chocolate, it’s great!

The Fondue Chalets are running for a limited time so you need to book early as spots are limited and sure to fill fast.
