Forest Glade Gardens, Mount Macedon VIC
If you are looking for a quick getaway from Melbourne, the Forest Glade Gardens in Mount Macedon are a perfect escape less than an hour from the city.

Forest Glade Gardens, Mount Macedon
Set on fourteen acres there are trails of maple trees, Japanese gardens and hikes down into the fern gully.

Take a picnic and enjoy watching butterflies under the shade of the trees or tadpoles by one of the many fountains.
Established in 1941, Forest Glade is recognised as one of Australia’s most beautiful private gardens.

Easily accessible with well defined walking paths all around the garden the majority of the garden is definitely pram friendly.
However, if you want to go into the fern gully, there are many stairs that can get pretty slippery and everyone should have a decent level of fitness.

The garden is also home to many beautiful sculptures from the Stokes Collection. The complete antiques collection is located in the gardens but not open to the public. Private, adults only, tours can be arranged by appointment.
Plenty of street parking is available and there are toilets on site.
Furry friends are also definitely welcome but must be kept on a leash throughout the garden.

There isn’t a cafe so make sure to pack some food and drinks because the grounds are absolutely lovely for al fresco dining.
