Grand Hyatt Melbourne Review
You know you have stepped into luxury when you stepped into the Grand Hyatt Melbourne. The grand lobby welcomes you with soaring ceilings, stylish décor, and a sense of calm sophistication.
We spent the weekend at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne for a family staycation with our kids 10 and 12 years old and there are so many things we love about this place.

Location
Located on Collins Street, the Grand Hyatt is right in the heart of Melbourne’s city centre. It’s a short 5-minute walk to Flinders Street Station, Federation Square, and only minutes from Melbourne’s iconic laneways, full of art, cafes, and hidden gems. It’s the perfect base for exploring the city on foot with kids.
We arrived early, left our car with the valet, and spent the morning walking around the city before returning for check in after lunch.
Rooms & Family Accommodation

The Grand Hyatt Melbourne offers a range of spacious and stylish rooms to suit any traveller.
We were 2 adults and 2 kids aged 10 and 12 and had two side-by-side rooms with a private lobby which is perfect for families like ours who want to stay close but still have some space.
The main room was for the parents and featured a king bed and a large lounge that can double as a bed for younger kids, meaning it could comfortably sleep four in this room if you wanted, perfect if you have younger kids.

Our second room was more basic with the two single beds. In total, you could potentially sleep a family of six across both rooms, great for larger families.
The rooms were fully equipped with everything we needed including comfortable beds and couch, TV’s, mini bar, robes, slippers etc. The bathrooms are beautiful and ours containing a bath.
But the real highlight? The incredible views over Melbourne’s skyline. Absolutely stunning, could just stare out for hours.

Facilities
The hotel has plenty to keep families entertained:
Large Indoor swimming pool

A great way for the kids to burn some energy, our kids were doing laps, we were the only people in there at one point so it was great. There’s also a hot spa and a cold plunge right next to it, the perfect combo for relaxing.
Huge gym
One of the largest we’ve seen in a hotel. It’s fully equipped with everything you need for a proper workout.
Open-air tennis court
For those looking to enjoy a game with a view. Would have loved to have stayed longer to get use out of this.
Dining
Collins Kitchen

The setting at Collins Kitchen is quite elegant. We had both dinner and breakfast here, and it did not disappoint. At dinner we were seated in one of the booths with a window, and had the Feed Me Menu, which was perfect for trying a range of dishes.
We had a mix of entrées, mains, and desserts to share. Everything was delicious and even our kids gave everything a go. We had cocktails and the kids had freshly made juices which were a hit.

Breakfast at Collins Kitchen was one of the best buffets we’ve had. There was everything you could want. Barista coffees, hot chocolates and tea brought straight to your table.
A huge range of food from the buffet from the hot classics like omelettes and bacon and eggs (made how you like), a beautiful selection of pastries, fresh fruits, yoghurts, and cereals. Fresh juices were great as well as the made-to-order pancakes, waffles and smoothies — my personal favourite! We definitely made the most of it!

Beyond Collins Kitchen, the hotel offers several other dining experiences:
- Ru-Co Bar: A stylish, modern bar offering signature cocktails and a wide selection of beverages .
- Lobby Lounge: Perfect for all-day dining or a business meeting, offering a relaxed setting .
- Bistro Bar: Serving beautifully crafted morning coffee and light snacks .
- In-Room Dining: Available from 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm, offering a diverse menu to enjoy in the comfort of your room.
