Gumbuya Dreaming- Digital Light Experience
Prepare for a mesmerising digital light experience this winter as Gumbuya World Theme Park present ‘Gumbuya Dreaming’! Created by acclaimed Indigenous artist Wayne Quilliam it is a magical night out. Mum’s Little Explorers had such a fun time!

Gumbuya Dreaming
Gumbuya Dreaming is a light show celebrating our first nations heritage set created by the renowned Indigenous artist Wayne Quilliam. The show is set within Gumbuya World Theme Park located about 50 minutes from Melbourne CBD.
The park opens from 3.30pm – 8pm. You have a couple of hours before the light show starts at 5.30pm to explore the park.

We joined the Outback Experience which was great. We watched the sheep dog round up the sheep before a sheep was shorn, relieving it of its warm woollen coat on a winter’s night. The kids even got to milk a cow too before getting their heart’s pumping on some of the rides at the Oz Adventure zone.
It gets cold in the evenings, but the family warming capsule is amazing and it will warm you up! You can find it located near one of the numerous cafes and will get you ready for the light show.
We were all excited as we had heard lots of great things and it didn’t disappoint!

The Show
The Gumbuya Dreaming Light Show is a great addition for winter especially on a misty night. The experience is small, but executed really well. It comprises of different zones to explore.
The entrance greeted us with music, beautiful lights and some mild smoky mist to highlight the lighting, and it worked well offering a mystical effect.

The Fire and Water Zone combined light, water and mist to create a beautiful and dynamic lighting effect which offered an outback feel. You can even float your own written notes in illuminated emu eggs down the Lazy River, a symbol of renewal and connection to the land.

There was an aboriginal dance performance several times over the night, which also encouraged guest participation at the end, which the little ones liked.
The website says it says the experience takes around 60-90 mins but it depends how slow you walk around, it didn’t take us that long and we went through several times the kids really liked it.
Food & Drink
Food such as burgers, pizza, chips and nuggets are on offer for dinner in the cafes. We also saw sushi, yogurt and rolls which were reasonably priced alongside several food trucks. There was very limited healthy food options.
