Boo!!! Let’s get spooky and celebrate Halloween in Melbourne! Halloween is becoming more and more popular each year in Australia and each year there are some great organised Halloween events in Melbourne for kids and families.
Whether you are planning a Halloween party, taking the kids are trick-or-treating, or just dressing up at home, here are a few fun and spooky events for kids in and around Melbourne.

Halloween is celebrated on the 31st October each year. This year Halloween will be on Tuesday 31st October 2023.

2. Big Fish Little Fish Halloween Family Rave
Set to be one of the best Halloween events in Melbourne, Family Rave Big Fish Little Fish is family fun for the post-rave generation of parents. 3. Lucha Fantastica Day of the Dead Show
There is a family-friendly fiesta featuring a traditional altar, festive piñatas, live mariachi music (where your little ones can sing along!), mouth watering tacos, and, of course, over 10 masked luchadores. Expect a show packed with acrobatics, action, and a pinch of comedy that’ll keep the entire family entertained!

4. Spooky celebrations at LEGOLAND Discovery Centre
Get into the spooky spirit at LEGOLAND Discovery Centre with a range of haunting Halloween activities on offer.
Kids are invited to dress up in their creepiest costume to receive a prize and enjoy a scary scavenger hunt in MINILAND, free face painting, colouring-in and the new LEGO 4D movie The Great Monster Chase!

5. Trick or Treat at Kryal Castle
Follow Dr. Frankenstein’s Spooky Scavenger Hunt throughout the entire Castle! All participants will receive a free trick or treat bag, and then you can follow the trail, solve ridiculous riddles, and challenge yourself in some of his ghoulish, gruesome experiments to collect some tasty treats!
Create magical potions, learn to sword fight, see live performances in our Jester’s Theatre and be amazed by our incredible Knights and horses as they battle in the championship Joust! (Open Sat & Sun – 10am-4pm).

6. Luna Dark
Celebrate Halloween in Melbourne with the kids at Luna Park as it comes back from the dead as Luna Dark. It’s Melbourne’s biggest and most bone-chilling costume party, where zombies, ghouls, ghosts, vampires and people who knew what you did last summer, come out to play.
There are both day and night sessions. Expect everything from VR horror games, to screaming competitions and your very own SFX horror makeup artist. Make sure you’re dressed to kill, because there are prizes for the best and scariest costume!

7. InStore Trick or Treating at Kew Junction
Halloween is back, in all it’s creepy, spooky glory at Kew Junction! There will be 40 stores involved so plenty of lollies to be had! Parents, make sure to collect your own treats on the way! Check the map for various businesses you can pick up vouchers for discounts and specials dining, beauty and hair services and more.
For the first time ever, they also have the Haunted Court House that kids can visit and experience! And of course don’t forget the wonderful on-street characters, on the street. Keep an eye out for Marvel characters, Disney princesses and more.

8. Halloween Havoc Lasertag
Super Spooky Laser Tag experience and Scary VR games. Halloween Havoc is a scary take on laser tag where not only will you play laser tag, but ou’ll have to look out for live actors dressed as Hollywoods’s scariest horror villains. Spend this Halloween getting scared the right way.

9. Halloween at Watergardens
Watergardens Shopping Centre is bringing fun (and fear) this Halloween weekend, hosting a huge 3-day street party in their brand-new outdoor precinct on Station Street from Saturday October 29th until
The party will be supported by exciting kids workshops where they’ll be able to create their very own Halloween bucket to take trick or treating, spooky face painting, amazing roaming prizes and a Ninja Turtles meet and greet.
There is plenty of fun to be had across the whole weekend for families with live music and entertainment including a Sesame Street performance, Gabby’s Dollhouse shows, Ben Murphy magic shows and a Halloween DJ Dance Party.

10. Halloween Kids Party Linden New Art
Let’s get spooky on Halloween with Linden! For a day, Linden New Art will become a scary mansion full of ghosts and vampires. Come in costume for a spooktacular good time and experience the magic of Halloween with us.
Go ghost hunting in the gallery, join a workshop with Nick Ashwood, a composer and performer of contemporary experimental music, to make a paper vampiric bat and your own noisy musical instrument to scary all monsters around.

11. FREE Halloween Community Fun for 0-5 year olds at Paisley Park
There’s a Halloween Party in Malvern! Come dressed in your favourite costume and enjoy some fun games, face painting and crafts as well as some spooky refreshments. Enrolled families and young families from the community are welcome. A lovely way for local children and families to meet each other.

For those who don’t want to go out door knocking for trick or treat, go on a Halloween Hunt!
Families can all get dressed up in their scariest outfits and head out for a walk around your neighbourhood hunting for pumpkins.
Make sure you have a stash of sweets with you, so you can fill up their Halloween baskets every time they spot a pumpkin!
The kids still get to celebrate Halloween, and they still come home with a bag of treats!
