Hill ‘n’ Dale BMX Park & Cycling Trails, Glen Iris
If your kids have a bit of a daredevil streak on their bicycles then Hill ‘n’ Dale BMX Park in Melbourne’s inner East is the place for you.

Hill ‘n’ Dale BMX Park, Melbourne
Safely built into the side of an embankment, this concrete bmx track is great for riders of all levels.
It has one section with small hills for newbies and a second, and a higher track for more experienced riders.

The park connects to leafy trails and has some great climbing trees so riding your bike is definitely not essential.

Hill ‘n’ Dale is one of the most popular parts of the larger Ferndale Trail that runs from Summerhill Park to Nettleton Park (2.2kms one way) in lovely Glen Iris.
The track provides an assortment of bumps and hills for a variety of experience levels. The lower track has more of a rolling hill feel while the larger track has high, tabletop hills that bikes were flying over.

There is a water fountain at Hill ‘n’ Dale for humans and dogs alike and a permanent repair stand with tools to fix up bikes and skateboards.

Unfortunately, there are no toilets on site but there are toilets and a playground at Ferndale Park which is a 10-15 minute walk away down the Ferndale Trail.
There are plenty of shaded grassy areas for parents and smaller children to picnic with an easy view to the bike riding kids. Some of the trees have grown sort of sideways so are perfect to sit or climb on. There are also wooden benches in the area.
The walking trails are beautifully situated and easy for prams, bikes or just taking a stroll.

If you bring your furry friend along, the area just a 2 minute walk away from the bike track is off lead for dogs.
There is also a larger off lead dog area at Nettleton park, the end of the Ferndale Trail, approximately 20 minute walk from Hill ‘n’ Dale.
