Who doesn’t love a delicious Roast? However, chopping all the veggies, cooking the meat and scrubbing the pans aren’t always what you want to do on a Sunday. Not to worry, the Hophaus Bar and Restaurant has you covered with a delicious roast with everything you could want!

Set on the first floor (mid-level) of the Southgate Restaurant & Shopping Precinct, the Hophaus has a beautiful view overlooking the Yarra River.
The main dining room opens up to the deck area so even inside you get the river view.
Sunday Roast at Hophaus Bar & Restaurant
Every Sunday the Hophaus is putting on the roast with all the trimmings.
There’s a variety on offer so you may find lamb, chicken, pork, beef or a combo. The $30 roast comes with loads of veggies. The day we went we had pork and brisket. So Yummy! The favourite part was the gravy. I had to stop my husband from licking the bowl, literally.
There are plenty of kid’s meals for 10 and under on offer as well. From Schnitzel & Chips to Mac & Cheese your kids will find something they love.
Each kid’s meal is $10 and includes a soft drink + activity pack to keep the little ones busy. My kids can never go past the pretzels and pickles. Those are a BIG family favourite!
The staff was very friendly and helpful. They even indulged my 6 year old and brought out a highchair for her doll.
The restaurant was filled with families so very kid friendly. It’s also spacious so pretty easy access for prams or wheelchairs. I didn’t see a change table in the restroom but there is a large, open bench.
Roasts start on Sunday from midday until late (or until the roast run out). Bookings are recommended and make sure to mention you are coming for the roast.
Keep in mind Sunday 24 July is the Christmas in July event so the roast won’t be on that day but a wonderful 3 course Christmas luncheon will.
There is a paid parking garage right beside the Langham hotel with a $19 weekend rate. Via public transport, it’s only a short walk to Southgate from Flinders Street Station. From the train you can take the underpass and cross the Southbank Pedestrian Bridge or from the tram, cross the Princess Bridge and walk past Hamer Hall into Southgate.
