For ice skating fun all year round, O’Brien Ice House has everything you need. You can bring your skates if you have them, otherwise you can hire a range of ice skates, helmets, and other protective gear to get you on the ice.
Just don’t forget to bring your warm clothes as the place is kept quite chilly!
Ice Skating in Melbourne for Kids
At O’brien Ice House, the whole family can go ice skating! With 2 skating rinks, there is a special area for kids under 8, with skating aids perfect for gaining confidence.
Just push the kangas and seals along the ice to keep your balance!
There are also FREE Beginners Ice Skating lessons where kids can learn the foundations of skating, these fun at the following times:
7:00pm Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
11:00am-3:00pm Saturday and Sunday
Tips for visiting O’Brien Ice House
- No age restriction, but the smallest skate to hire is a size 7.
- Dress for the cold, the temperature is set at 16 degrees inside, even during the warmer months.
- Lockers are available to keep your valuables.
- Café onsite, otherwise plenty of food options at the District Docklands if you plan to come for lunch or dinner.
- Hire the seals for the kids, you may end up borrowing them yourself!
