Il Caminetto, Italian Restaurant Moonee Ponds

Il Caminetto is a charming little restaurant with a cosy dining space inside and a relaxed courtyard out the back. It’s the kind of place that works just as well for a casual family lunch as it does for a dinner out with friends.

The service was spot on, friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The restaurant itself feels traditional and homey. There was a family birthday when we were there, and a few families with kids.

For entre we shared a delicious creamy burata and some Italian meatballs with crusty bread.

For mains, we enjoyed a mix of woodfired pizzas and fresh seafood pasta.. There are plenty of different flavours on the menu, but we love a good seafood pasta so we shared all of the meals. Each dish was generous in portion and packed with flavour, the kind of food that nonna makes!

Of course, no Italian meal is complete without dessert, and Il Caminetto did not disappoint. The tiramisù was light and authentic, the panna cotta was silky smooth, and the ricotta cannoli were a standout for all of us, delicious!

Il Caminetto caters for most dietaries including gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan offering a diverse menu to ensure there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Queens Park

One of the best things about Il Caminetto is its location. Right across the road is Queens Park, a beautiful green space with a lake, large playground, and plenty of grassy areas. After our meal, we strolled around the park, the kids played on the playground, and we even had a kick of the soccer ball. It was the perfect way to finish off our Italian feast (and to work off those full bellies!)
