Kuranda Koala Gardens, Queensland
If you are visiting Kuranda, or considering a day trip from Cairns or Port Douglas, make sure to check out the Kuranda Koala Gardens. This wildlife attraction surrounded by one of the most famous rainforests in the world is one of the few places you can hold a koala!

Kuranda Koala Gardens
Set in a beautiful rainforest setting, Kuranda Koala Gardens are one of North Queensland’s most popular wildlife attractions.
Located up in the famous Kuranda Village you can see a wide range of Australian animals. From kangaroos, wallabies and wombats,to lizards, bearded dragons, snakes and other reptiles too.
You will even see some freshwater crocodiles.

And of course lots of koalas.

You can get up close and feed the wallabies and kangaroos.

If you want, you can also pat or hold a koala! Kuranda Koala Gardens is one of the few places that you are able to so if it is on your bucket list this is the place to do it!
For the koala hold you must be over 120cm, so it is great for older kids. But don’t worry, for little ones there is also the family koala patting photo where they get to still get up close and have a pat.
