MOPA – Museum of Play & Art, Geelong
Geelong’s iconic Wintergarden building has been transformed into a brand new beautiful children’s museum – MOPA Museum of Play and Art. This immersive space has been specially designed for families with kids from 1-10 years old where they can explore, play, create, and learn. It is one of the best things to do in Geelong with kids, and also has a venue in Melbourne opening soon.

With two levels to explore, there are plenty of things to keep kids engaged at MOPA – Victoria’s newest Children’s Museum.
As soon as you walk in the door you can see the effort that has been put in by designers to make it a creative and immersive space.
From the bright colours and graphics, to the different creative areas, they have really brought the building to life.

Creative Spaces at MOPA
MOPA – Museum of Play and Art has a range of different spaces.
The soft play toddler area has been designed to support motor skills and is great for little ones to explore. There is also pram parking close by, which is very handy.
MOPA City is fantastic for climbing and hiding.


The Pipe station is also very exciting watching scarves blow through and shoot out the very top. Great to test your skills and try catching it. The kaleidoscope is also very cool.

So many Interactive screens where you can take photos & edit or colour and play.

The Star studio is much loved. Kids can dress up, jump on stage and instantly become famous! (And watch yourself on the television screen) Mum’s Little Explorers loved this!

The Quiet Room is a lovely cosy space on the top level, filled with bean bags, puzzles and books. It is the perfect space to chill and unwind a little after lots of exploring.

Outside there is even more. You can sit in the sunshine or undercover while the kids play. The kiddies can enjoy a magnetic pipe wall play track, pop on an arts mock and paint the colourful beetle or build and play with crates.


As well as the usual daily activities, MOPA also has a range of special activities and events throughout the term with are included in the entry fee.
Mum’s Little Explorers finished the day off with a dance party with musical instruments. They loved it. The staff were so friendly and got involved.

All amenities are super clean. The venue is kept spotless and very covid safe.
There is a cute little cafe serving hot drinks, delicious sweets & treats, fruit cups for the kids, healthy lunch packs & Cold drinks. There are gluten free options too- brownies , veggie chips and popcorn.
Look out for the new Melbourne venue coming soon to Sandringham in Melbourne’s South East, it is going to be amazing!
