Novotel Cairns Oasis Family Resort
Nestled in the heart of the city, the Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort is one of the best family resorts in Cairns for families. It has a perfect blend of comfort and convenience, with a range of kids activities on offer too.
Having experienced this family-friendly hotel firsthand, we are sharing our Novotel Cairns review and why we think it is the ideal family accommodation for families.
Novotel Oasis Cairns Review
The Novotel Oasis has something for everyone and is especially family friendly. The hotel offers spacious and comfortable rooms, delicious dining options, a swim up bar, and a fantastic lagoon pool with a sandbank that kids will love.
Location

The resort is right in the middle of Cairns, just a five minute walk to the Esplanade and Lagoon, and not too far from Muddy’s Playground. It is pretty much close to everything including the marina where you can get the ferry to Fitzroy Island or Green Island.
We had a few busy days during our stay, however in the late afternoons and evenings, strolling along the Esplanade or exploring the nearby attractions became a daily routine, thanks to the resort’s convenient location.
The night time really comes alive in Cairns, and because of the heat and humidity it is a great time to get out and about.
The Rooms

We had a family room looking over the pool area which was lovely to wake up to in the morning, and also had great views at night.

Our room provided ample space for our family of four however there are larger suites available with separate rooms as well if that’s what you prefer.
The rooms are spacious and comfy have the usual amenities including TV, bar fridge etc. We didn’t spend too much time in our rooms though to be honest, any time we were in the resort, we were either lounging by the pool in the bean bags or at the pool bar.
The Lagoon Pool

Undoubtedly, the highlight of our stay was the fantastic lagoon pool, a little oasis located right in the middle of the hotel grounds.
The shallow area has a sand bank and is perfect for the little ones to play in the sand making sand castles or splash around safely.

The deeper sections offer a refreshing escape from the tropical Cairns heat and there is a swim up bar in the middle.

There are sun lounges, large bean bags and umbrellas all around. And you can order food and drinks from the bar.
It feels like your own little tropical paradise. The kids never wanted to leave. We even found a few pool floats in our room to use.
We spent countless hours swimming, and lounging by the pool, and never had an issue getting a spot, even coming late in the afternoons some days.
The kids found lots of other children their age to hang out with during our stay which was great too as it allowed us to relax.
Dining
The buffet breakfast is amazing and if you like to sleep in it is perfect as you can dine until 10.30am. There is everything you can think of with both warm and cold options.

So much variety. From bacon and eggs (cooked how you prefer) to waffles, pancakes and fresh pastries and bread, yoghurt and fresh fruit and more. All catered to even the pickiest eater!
We loved the barista coffee, and the kids enjoyed their daily hot chocolate, along with fresh juice as well.

For lunch or dinner there is the Moku Beach Club and Bar & Grill. Delicious bites and drinks, whether you want to order by the pool, in the restaurant or at the Terrace Bar.
Anything from oysters and fish n chips, to steak, ribs, burgers, parmas, pizzas, and healthy salad bowls.
The menu changes for lunch and dinner, and they have daily specials such as steak night, nacho night, parma night etc.

Drinks and cocktails are readily available all day, you can take away to your table or sunbeds, or even swim up to have a drink at the bar. They also have happy hour in the late afternoon.

If you want, the hotel also offer in room dining options so you can enjoy a meal in your room or on your balcony. Prices are quite reasonable, and they offer mini mains for kids as well.
Special Events
Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort occasionally offers special activities or programs during school holidays to cater to families and children.
Our stay was on the edge of the holidays and there were various activities and games by the pool for kids.
There was also a themed Barbie Breakfast while we were there with special sweets that the kids loved.
During the school holidays it is busier, it’s a good idea to inquire directly with the Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort regarding their specific offerings during school holidays as these activities might vary from time to time. This way, you can plan your stay accordingly to make the most out of your family holiday.
