Nutty Scientists School Holiday Program Review
Each term during the school holidays, Nutty Scientists organise a number of different holiday workshops for kids around Melbourne.
They are half day workshops that start at 9.30am to 2.30pm. However, there is also the option for before and after activities if parents work, so kids can be dropped off earlier and picked up later.
Class sizes are generally kept small, from 15-20 kids, with 2-3 instructors.
Mum’s Little Explorers participated in “Blast Off to Space” where they learned all about space. The “nutty” scientists taught the kids all about the Earth, Sun, Moon, and various planets of the solar system.
They learned all about rockets and objects in flight using the laws of motion. And then all about the centre gravity, and how the sun, earth and moon move in relation to each other.
All of the kids enjoyed participating in science experiments using different elements to re-create a hurricane, a rocket and a volcano.
They were kept engaged from start to finish, participating in 3 different workshops with short breaks throughout the day for snack and lunch where the kids get to run around outside. For those staying the full day, there is also an afternoon snack break.
