Oakwood Premier Hotel Review
Located in South bank, right across from Melbourne Convention Centre is the Oakwood Premier Melbourne. We recently stayed a night with our 2 kids aged 10 and 12 years old. Here is everything you need to know.
Location
The Oakwood Premier Hotel is a modern luxury hotel in a great spot in Southbank, just a five-minute walk to the Melbourne Convention Centre and South Warf. It’s also close to Southbank’s restaurants, a short walk to Crown Casino, and the CBD, making it a convenient base for exploring the city.
Rooms
There are different rooms available according to your needs. We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment with an adjoining hotel room for the kids which is perfect for families who need both space and privacy.
The rooms are modern, well-equipped, and had everything we needed. The view of the Yarra River and Melbourne skyline was a nice bonus, especially in the morning and evening to sit and have a drink with a view.
Our apartment had a kitchenette with sink, coffee machine, large fridge, table and chairs, couch with a TV, and a desk. It also had a washing machine which we didn’t need for our one-night stay but would be useful for longer stays. The kids’ room was a standard hotel room. The bathrooms had a shower but no bath and came with all the little extras like toiletries, vanity kit, shower cap, etc.
Dining
The Oakwood Lounge is the in-house restaurant and is a convenient option, located on the bottom floor near the entry. The menu is simple, with a few different dishes to choose from including pizza which the kids loved. Our fav were the desserts, the highlight of our meal.
If you are looking for something a little more fancy without the kids, check out Strato on the 40th floor. They have delicious cocktails and a feed me menu which is amazing. The views of the city are just stunning. It’s more of a date night thing or even a dinner with friends.
The buffet breakfast had plenty of variety, with bacon, eggs, hot dishes, fresh pastries, fruit, and healthy options. Barista coffees, teas, and hot chocolate available as well as juices as well. We were all full for a while afterwards!
Facilities
The games room was a huge hit. It’s a large room with plenty to keep the whole family entertained. There is a pool table, air hockey, table tennis and arcade games to keep the kids entertained. Great spot to chill and spend time together.
The gym was one of the best we’ve seen in a hotel. It’s a full gym with weights, cardio machines, and functional training areas, making it easy to get in a proper workout. Plus you have full views of the city which is stunning!
The only thing missing is a pool which we usually like with a staycation, however the games room made up for it.
Final Thoughts
Oakwood Premier Melbourne is a solid choice for families looking for a comfortable and well-located stay in Melbourne. The rooms are spacious, the amenities are good, and it’s close to everything. If you’re visiting the city for an event, a getaway, or just a short stay, it’s a great place to consider.
