Pentridge Prison Tours
Pentridge Prison was once home to thousands of individuals across multiple generations, however it’s no longer a place for criminals. Now open to the public and managed by the National Trust, it offers immersive tours that delve into a shared history of truths.
Conveniently located just 30 minutes from central Melbourne, the jail’s architecture, made of bluestone, is not only intriguing but also reminiscent of a castle, capturing the imagination of the little ones.

The new Family Tour, exploring the H Division and the broader precinct, is suitable for kids young and old.
Mum’s Little Explorers, with kids aged 5 and 8, found it particularly enjoyable. The tour guide showcases key spots around Pentridge Prison and narrates tales of daring escape attempts, providing children with insights into what life was like on the inside.

The excitement begins inside the H Division, where families engage in a detective game.
We loved the experience of playing detectives, unravelling the mystery of who is planning an escape, how they intend to do it, and when and where it will happen.

Clues are strategically placed within three cells, and upon completion, participants receive a top detective certificate.
For mementos, an on-site shop offers a variety of souvenirs, and within the jail, several cafes provide food options. Additionally, there’s an outdoor playground on the grounds for kids to enjoy some playtime after the tour.
