There are plenty of places to park your picnic mat with stunning views of the lake, and gardens. And for the kids there is the Ian Potter Garden with lots of sensory play too.
2. Carlton Gardens
Close to the Melbourne Museum, the Carlton gardens are the perfect spot for a picnic in Melbourne near the CBD whether you are spending the whole day, or having lunch after a morning exploring the museum or visiting the Royal Exhibition Building.
The gardens offer a large and well-maintained area with plenty of shady areas under trees, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a picnic with family or friends. There are also many walking paths and scenic views within the gardens.
3. Yarra Bend Park Kew

Located along the Yarra River, the Yarra Bend Park has everything you need for the perfect picnic and day out. There are walking tracks, cycling tracks, places to go fishing or canoeing.
