Polly Woodside Tall Ship & Museum, Melbourne
Ahoy Matey! Arrrrggghh you ready for to join the old seadogs for an adventure on the high seas? Grab your best pirate hat, your parrot and head on down to the Polly Woodside to explore this glorious tall ship on Pirate Day, the first Sunday of each month! Swab the deck, hunt for hidden treasure and play pirate games.
The Polly Woodside tall ship has been sailing the seven seas since she left her original home in Belfast, Ireland in 1885. You can now join the crew, and get onboard for a tour of the ship and discover what life was like on a tall ship sailing the seven seas.
Don’t worry if you get seasick because this tall ship is now permanently docked on South Wharf Promenade.
And you don’t have to wait for Pirate Day because every weekend is open for exploring and learning the history of this beautiful ship.
But if your little buccaneers are pirate mad then it’s definitely worth waiting for a day filled with pirate fun where there are lots of fun activities for the kids.
There are steps and stairs so not really suitable for a pram. Toilets are located in the museum before the entry. There is no food or drinks on the Polly Woodside but there is a lovely picnic area out front. There are also plenty of restaurants within walking distance.
The closest parking would be in the Melbourne Exhibition Centre parking lots which usually has a flat rate on the weekend. Or take jump on public transport then walk 10-15 minutes from Southern Cross Station.
