Rain Hayne & Shine Farmyard & Mobile Farm, Balnarring
Rain Hayne & Shine Farmyard is lovely family run animal farm for kids on the Mornington Peninsula where you can meet and play with a range of farm animals, ride a pony or a horse, have a ride on a tractor and join in the farm yard experience with various farm themed activities.
Rain Hayne & Shine Farmyard
Rain Hayne & Shine is family run farm where you are made to feel at home from the moment you walk in. It isn’t a huge tourist attraction like some of the larger farms in the area, it is an authentic working farm where you can get hands on experience with the animals.
There is a long dirt road as you drive in, but when you see the pig and the rainbow at the front gates and know you have arrived.
On your way in, you are greeted with the lambs, sheep and goats where you can start feeding and playing with them.
A little further along you will find the horse and pony rides (which you pay per ride).
A favourite is of course the animal pen with the rabbits, guinee pigs, and little piglets, which was packed the whole time we were there, and our kids didn’t want to leave.
The tractor ride is popular too, it is just a small ride but the kids love it. There doesn’t seem to be a set time for rides, however they go throughout the day when there are enough kids waiting.
The hay shed is a lot of fun too, the kids run up and down the haystacks.
There are various other scheduled activities on certain days and during school holidays such as the cow milking, where all the kids can have a turn. This is then followed by separating milk and cream, churning cream to butter, grinding wheat to flour, baking bread and tasting the bread and butter. Definitely an interesting one to be there for.
There is also the bottle feeding of some of the baby animals which is really cute too. Make sure to check the holiday schedule to see when these activities are on.
In the middle of the farm, there is a children’s play area with lots of outdoor toys to play with and even a party room for birthday parties which looks great.
One thing to note is that there is no café, however they do sell basic beverages like coffee, juice, and soft drink, and snacks such as sausage rolls, meat pies, zooper doopers etc.
You can bring your own food though, and there is a huge picnic area with tables and chairs right in front of the kids play area so it’s perfect.
Rain Hayne and Shine are also a mobile farm too, so if you have an event or a party they can bring the farm animals to you.
