Swim with the Dolphins at Sea World
On our recent trip to the Gold Coast, we visited Sea World and took part in the deep water Dolphin Deep Water Adventure with our family of four (kids 11 and 13 years old). It was one of the most special experiences we’ve done together.
The session starts with a short briefing where the trainers explain how the interaction works and share some fun facts about the dolphins. If you are doing the deep water experience, you’re fitted with a snorkel mask so you can look beneath the surface.
Once you’re in the water area, that’s when the magic happens. The trainers are incredible at what they do, they are really knowledgeable, and so natural with the animals. You can tell they genuinely care about them.
We spent time learning about the dolphins, feeding them, and watching them swim.
Seeing the dolphins swim and glide underwater right beside you is honestly incredible, they move so gracefully and seeing them from that angle gives you a whole new appreciation for them and how intelligent they are.
It’s one thing to see dolphins from a distance, but being up close and interacting with them is something else entirely.
This is a hands on, pinch yourself kind of experience, perfect for families who love wildlife encounters and want to do something truly memorable during their holiday.
It’s not rushed either. The trainers guide you through each part, answer questions, and make sure everyone gets a personal moment with the dolphin. We got photos taken which are such a great keepsake.
For animal loving families or anyone looking for a memorable experience on the Gold Coast, this is definitely one to add to the list.
Tips for the Experience:
- Spots are limited and often sell out, book ahead.
- Younger kids can do the shallow encounter rather than deep water.
- Arrive early to check in and attend the mandatory briefing.
- Wear swimwear (you are provided with shorts & rashie)
- Bring towel and spare clothing.
- Photos are taken by the official photographers.
- Experiences may vary depending on dolphin behaviour and weather conditions.
