One our favourite family musicals! If your family love the movie then you are going to love SHREK THE MUSICAL which brings the hilarious story of everyone’s favourite ogre to life on the stage.

I grew up watching it myself and have watched it with my kids for years, so we were so excited when the show came to Melbourne a few years back, everyone loved it!

The Story

In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, a feisty princess named Fiona is in need of rescuing. But things get ugly when rather than a handsome prince, an unseemly ogre shows up to rescue her.

Add a chatterbox donkey tagging along, a bad guy with a short temper, a cookie with attitude, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero.

Luckily, there’s one on hand … and his name is Shrek.

SHREK THE MUSICAL is based on the Oscar winning DreamWorks film Shrek and William Steig’s 1990 book Shrek!.

When it was launched, the film Shrek was the first Academy Award winner for the Best Animated Feature! It was also the #1 highest grossing animated film and the #3 highest grossing film.

Still today, three of the Shrek films are in the Top 20 Highest Grossing Animated Films of all time.

Shrek The Musical Review

We took our kids aged 6 and 8, to see Shrek the Musical a few years back and it was an absolute hit with all of us! The show was bursting with colour, energy, and laugh-out loud moments that had the whole audience engaged.

The cast brings all the much loved characters to life: Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, and even Lord Farquaad, with spot on performances and fantastic voices.

The clever mix of catchy songs, witty humour, and heartfelt moments kept both kids and adults entertained from start to finish.

Our favourite character was Donkey, who completely stole the show with his hilarious one liners, infectious energy, and brilliant comedic timing.

Whether you’re a long-time fan or new to the swamp, Shrek the Musical is a must-see family experience that will leave everyone smiling and singing “I’m a Believer” all the way home!
