Sir William Fry Reserve Playground, Highett
A great playspace in Melbourne’s South East is the Sir William Fry Reserve and Playground. It is a large community area with a playground, walking trails, picnic spots, a pond and lake.

Sir William Fry Reserve Playground
Sir William Fry Reserve is located on Nepean but once you’re at the playground you don’t notice the bustling highway.
The area is large and green and is a great spot for a picnic or to take the kids to run around.

The playground is situated behind the apartment’s next to the duck filled pond and is suitable for young kids as it is low to the ground which gives parents peace of mind, especially if you have toddlers and young children.
Parents can sit in the central shaded seating area while watching their children play on the play equipment.

There are slides, a balance beam, rope climb, swings and a rebound brick wall to hit a ball against. A favourite is the double slide where you can sit side by side and race your friend down.

Tall native trees rim the playground, giving shade on warm days.
There is an open grass area, and the large lake is filled with plants giving the ducks a great hiding spot.
You can certainly hear the ducks when walking on the track around the lake which gives excitement when young children are playing spot the ducks.
There are picnic tables and bbq so you can make a day of it with the family if you like.
