The Portsea Camp, Holiday Camps for Kids
The Portsea Camp on the Mornington Peninsula is one of Victoria’s most iconic children’s camps, offering kids a chance to connect with nature, try new activities, and make new friends. With a range of programs running during school holidays and school terms, there’s something to suit every child whether they’re adventurers, creatives, or simply keen to have fun away from home.

The Portsea Camp, Mornington Peninsula
The Portsea Camp is set in such a stunning coastal location on the Mornington Peninsula right by the beach. The camp has been running for decades and is well known for its fun, safe, and supportive environment.
Each program is carefully designed to build confidence, independence, and resilience, while giving kids the chance to experience something new.
Our family has had firsthand experience, with one of our kids having attended the Adventure Camp through school one year and the Creative Writing Camp over the school holidays. We received great feedback both times.

Adventure Camps
The Portsea Camp’s Adventure Camps are all about action, fun, and getting outdoors. Kids spend their days trying new activities such as high ropes, giant swings, rock climbing, kayaking, archery, and beach adventures right on the Portsea foreshore.

The program is designed to challenge kids in a supportive way, encouraging teamwork and problem-solving while building resilience. Evenings are just as fun, with campfires, games, and social activities that create a real sense of community.
For kids who love being active and want to step outside their comfort zone, the Adventure Camp is the perfect option.
Creative Writing Camps

For budding authors, storytellers, or kids who simply love to write, the Creative Writing Camps are a unique and inspiring experience. These programs are led by award-winning and best-selling authors who run hands on workshops throughout the camp.
Kids learn about character development, world-building, and creative expression in an encouraging and fun environment. They also get the chance to share their work, receive feedback, and be inspired by real writers who make a living from their craft.
The balance of workshops, fun camp activities like the flying fox, giant swing, and social time means kids are both engaged and entertained the whole time.

Families can choose between sending kids for the day or opting for the full overnight camp experience. Day Camps are a great introduction for younger children or those who may not feel quite ready to stay away from home. They still get to take part in all the activities and workshops, returning home in the evening.
One of our kids took part in the 3 night, 4 day Creative Writing Camp during the school holidays and absolutely loved it. Not only did he improve his writing skills, but he also gained confidence in sharing his stories and came home with a renewed passion for reading and writing.
Overnight Camps offer the full experience, including evening games, campfires, and sleeping in the cabins and making new friends.
Staying overnight is a great way for children to develop independence, build confidence, and learn responsibility in a safe and supportive environment. My son tells us that the evenings are one of the highlights of camp life!
