Triceratops: Fate of the Dinosaur : Melbourne Museum
Are you and your future palaeontologists ready to meet the largest, most complete dinosaur in Australia? Come down to the Melbourne Museum and come face to face with Horridus at the Triceratops: Fate of the Dinosaur exhibit.

Triceratops: Fate of the Dinosaur Exhibit, Melbourne Museum
Horridus was discovered in Montana, North America. She walked the earth over 67 million years ago and it’s believed she died in a river.
Her skeleton with over 260 bones was protected by the sand and water leaving her skeleton one of the most complete ever discovered.
And now she has made the trip across the earth to live in Melbourne.

The corridors into the exhibit are filled with interactive projections that mesmerised the kids.
The lighting is done so well it honestly looks like it’s raining inside. There are all kinds of dinosaur visitors from the crustaceous period projected on the walls.

Horridus herself is quite spectacular. Triceratops were way bigger than I ever imagined growing over two metres tall and eight metres long.
They weighed more than two African elephants put together.
Being able to stand next to Horridus is quite a cool experience.

There are many interactive stations with loads of information about the triceratops and the crustaceous period. And don’t forget to pop behind Horridus to check out the information about the asteroid that changed the fate of the dinosaurs and the earth forever.

As an added bonus, if you have any questions that aren’t answered during your visit, you can email the museum’s palaeontologists via the museum’s website and they will do their best to help answer your questions.
