TwistED Science makes science fun for kids through play and is great for any age! Cure the curiosity and use get the kids using their imagination on a family fun day in Melbourne’s South East.

Finding a place that the whole family really enjoys can be tricky especially if there is a big age gap or varying levels of physicality between the kids.

TwistED Science really comes through on the promise that they have something for everyone no matter your age, culture or ability.

Everyone will be thoroughly entertained.

The beautifully clean and well laid out science centre in Melbourne is divided into three different sections, Tangerine, Blue and Green.

Tangerine is for pre-school (under 5s) with a smaller fenced area designed especially for toddlers. Tangerine is full of sensory related stations including a star filled tunnel and dinosaurs.

You will also find a parent’s room and dedicated pram parking. Blue and Green are for 5-105 and this should be taken literally as all of the grown-ups were having just as much fun playing as the kids.

It would take at least ten pages to tell you about each wonderful station, but a few favourites were making our own flying paper rockets and helicopters then watching them fly, being fully encased in a giant bubble, dancing on the ceiling, meeting stick insects and making a volcano.

You won’t find a lot of instructions on the walls which leaves all of the activities open to the imagination and really promotes curiosity.

However, if you do want to know more about the science at play there are QR codes at each station that provide more info and give some ideas for experiments.

It’s very clear that the staff love what they are doing. They were so friendly and kind to all the kids. There is a lot of pride in where they work, and the level of inclusivity TwistED Science brings to the community.

Upstairs there are Laboratories where school groups can visit, or birthday parties can be held. The centre is fit out with ramps and an elevator so easily accessible for prams or wheelchairs.

When you need a little break there’s a wonderful café on site with sandwiches, biscuits, and the best gluten free blueberry muffin I’ve ever eaten (I kept stealing bites from my son).

The science themed drinks are extra spectacular! There are many to choose from including popping bubbly drinks and milkshakes served in giant beakers.

TwistED Science is super clean! All of the areas are thoroughly cleaned between sessions.

To avoid disappointment Bookings are essential.
Onsite parking and loads of room for buses carrying school groups as well. IF you prefer public transport, Bus stop 822 (Isabella St/Rowan St) is only a 4 minute walk away.
