Veg Out Community Garden, St Kilda
Right across the street from Luna Park and tucked away from the bustle of Acland Street is a lovely oasis in St Kilda, the Veg Out Community Garden.
Veg Out Community Garden St Kilda
Built on an old lawn bowls green, the gardens are a great open space to wander and find a moment of peace in the middle of the usual commotion.
Filled with flowers, fruits, cacti and wonderful art instillations, there is plenty to capture the imagination of kids and grownups alike.
The paths curve through around 140 varying plots of different vegetation and artwork, perfect for a relaxing stroll.
There is some open green space that is perfect for chasing the numerous butterflies that are attracted to the gardens.
Towards the back of the garden, you will see cacti that are over a storey tall and chickens, birds, and guinea pigs.
Over in the corner is a magical fairy garden with a stone grotto. There are even some story books inside.
There are plenty of spots for a picnic with many shaded benches, tables and chairs. New, clean toilets are open to the public.
There is even a sandpit to play in and a mini library if you want to relax and read a book.
Veg Out also hosts many special events throughout the year like Farmer’s Markets, Sculpture Exhibitions and Art Workshops.
