How cool is the exclusive cinema for kids at V Junior Village Cinemas! Unlike any other cinema, V Junior has been designed for kids by kids with modified seating, lighting, and fun activities before and at intermission.

We all know that taking the kids to the movies can sometimes be stressful and not relaxing. After the fifth toilet break and trying to keep the kids in their seats whilst stopping the chatter the movie is almost over and the enjoyment fizzes out quickly.
Village Cinemas has the answer. “An exclusive cinema for kids, designed by kids”.
The V Junior Hot wheels cinema “combines movies and play – two things kids love”. The V Junior cinema is for the whole family to enjoy. A unique and fun way to treat the kids to the movies.
A Cinema Designed FOR kids BY kids
One perk of the V Junior Cinema experience is it has its very own foyer and candy bar.
30 minutes prior to the start of the session the foyer opens up as a play area. The area includes colouring tables, a mega block wall, hot wheels tracks and cars and interactive screens for the kids to enjoy.
While the kids play, mum and dad can grab a coffee from the VJunior Cinemas exclusive Candy Bar, which has a menu specifically and portioned for the kids including vegan and gluten free options, and off course everyone’s favourite movie treat, popcorn.
After 30 minutes of free play in the foyer the cinema opens up and the kids are able to play on giant tube slide located inside.
The kids can free play before the movie begins.
No shoes on the slide and parental supervision enforced. Once the lights are dimmed the children must return to their allocated seats.
Unlike other cinemas. The V junior cinema modifies the lighting, which allows kids and parents to be able to move around and in and out of the cinema freely and safely if needed.
Each movie is also screened with reduced sound, so kids are able to ask questions and there are no loud startling sounds.
Another great thing about the VJunior Cinemas is the intermission break half way through the movie.
This 10 minute break allows for toilet, candy bar purchases (coffee break for mum and dad ) and a quick play on the slide. It ensures that nobody misses a minute of the movie.

This VJunior Cinema review is based on the Southland location.
The cinemas vary but some offer different seats from standard cinema seats to the more comfy bean bag seats or the recliner lounge seats. These can be selected when completing your ticket purchase online.
Tips for Visiting V Junior Cinemas
- Book online and in advance. Due to current restrictions the cinema only offers limited seating so the sessions can sell out quickly. (Especially on rainy, cold days)
- Suitable for ages 2 and up. However the slide is quite big and recommended for older children as it is hard to climb.
- There is NO pram access or parking.
- Get there early. The free play area is great for kids to interact with each other and parents to relax.
- Make use of the intermission. Go to the toilet and let the kids play. This will ensure they don’t lose interest and make it to the end of the movie.
- The bean bag seats are super comfy, relax and enjoy.
