Waverley Park Lake Playground, Mulgrave
Waverley Park Lake Playground is located in Mulgrave, in Melbourne’s east, and it’s hands down one of our kids’ favourite playgrounds right now. It’s fully fenced, beautifully designed, and one of those parks that keeps kids entertained for hours. We’ve already visited twice in three days… and the kids are still asking to go back.

This playground really does cater to all ages, from tiny toddlers through to older kids and teens. Our 3- and 5-year-olds were in heaven, running from one play zone to the next.

Lots of different swings, one of our favs is the double swing, where kids can swing facing each other (instant giggles).

There’s also a flying fox for older kids, plus a seated flying fox so little ones don’t miss out either.
The central climbing tower is another highlight, with ropes and netting leading all the way to the top. Once up there, kids are rewarded with great views over the park and lake before racing back down the huge slide.

Visiting on a warm day? You’re covered. There’s a small water play area that flows into a covered sandpit. Tip from us: bring your own bucket and shovel, our youngest could happily dig and build here for hours.
This is definitely a half-day (or even full-day) playground, so pack a picnic or make it easy and grab lunch or a coffee from Gigi’s Kiosk, conveniently located at the park entrance.
