1. Collingwood Children’s Farm Winter Solstice Bonfire
One of the most popular annual winter solstice events in Melbourne is the Collingwood Children’s Farm Winter Solstice Bonfire. Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy an array of food trucks while your family is entertained with live music, lanterns, face painting, storytelling and of course, the massive bonfire.

2. Belgrave Lantern Parade
Want to really immerse yourself into the festivities this year? Make your own lantern and join the Belgrave Lantern Parade! Originally planned for 19 June, the parade has been postponed but organisers are very hopeful the parade will happen in 2021! A new date is to be announced.
A favourite for the kids who either want to parade or watch the beautiful, creative light sculptures walk by. Fire Pits are lit by the local scouts to keep you warm. Local providers will have food and drinks for sale as part of the Big Dreams Market. Limited parking is available but fills up quickly so take public transport if you can.

3. Montsalvat Winterfest
Lantern parade, story time in front of the fire, mulled wine and live music! Winterfest at Montslavat has everything you could want on the shortest day of the year. Great family event. For the kids there is a lantern making workshop lead by creativity 4 kids. Show off your creative flare by making your very own paper lantern! Workshop runs for 30 minutes. All materials supplied. Battery operated tealights provided.

4. Eynesbury Winter Solstice
The Eynesbury Winter Festival is on again for 2022 and makes a fantastic family day trip from Melbourne. Put on a warm hat, jacket, grab some skates and discover the world of ice skating on the pop-up skate rink. This is a month long celebration with their special winter solstice event happening mid July!
