Funky Farm Wildlife Sanctuary, Hastings
Funky Farm is a one of a kind wildlife sanctuary on the Mornington Peninsula where you can get hands on experience getting up close to lots of native animals.

Funky Farm, Hastings
Located in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula, Funky Farm is a 10-acre farm in Hastings (a 1-hour drive from Melbourne CBD).
The owners at this family run wildlife sanctuary pride themselves in looking after and rescuing native animals and it’s the perfect place to introduce your kids to many of Australia’s beautiful creatures.
We visited with our 2 kids aged 4 and 1 during winter all rugged up in jumpers, coats and gumboots and they had the best day!

On arrival you’re greeted by the cheerful and friendly staff for a fully personalised and hands-on 1.5-hour interactive tour. Our tour was lead by Kris and Sony who were absolutely wonderful.
Each tour group is so small that every person can experience patting, holding and taking a photo with each of the animals. Our kids both got to meet each animal on the tour.
You get to feed the kangaroos and wallabies, taking photos next to a koala, get close up to the emus, wombats, dingos and more. There are lots of reptiles, snakes and even a croc!
Our four year olds favourite was when she got to ‘pat the wombat’s bum!’ when we had our photo taken with them. Our little one was unsure about the snake initially but LOVES looking back at the photos.

My favourite part was hearing ‘Big bird!’ screamed with such excitement when my little one first saw the emu.
The site is well-prepared for all kinds of weather, so you can visit all year round. It is all outdoors but there are some undercover exhibits as well.
What we love the most is that everything is included in the entry fee. There are no additional cost for each photo or to hold/pat or feed each animal. (note that there is no holding or touching the koalas allowed).

Funky Farm is also dedicated to NDIS specialised facility for special needs adults and children and is wheelchair friendly. Many of their animals have been trained to be familiar with wheelchairs also.
Highly recommended for families, animal lovers and anyone looking to enjoy a day in the great outdoors.
