Glow Winter Arts Festival Melbourne 2024

Lighten up after dark at the Glow Winter Arts Festival’s magical journey through never-seen-before lighting installations and artworks at historic Central Park in Malvern East.

This free winter Festival returns as a four-night spectacle of immersive light, colour and art, a special live performance and food trucks with tasty snacks.

Around the gardens, you’ll be able to get up close and explore the illuminated artworks, walking in and around the installations, as well as witnessing an intriguing performance inside a conservatory.

City of Stonnington Mayor, Cr Jami Klisaris is encouraging everyone to take the opportunity to enjoy this year’s Glow experience which features new awe-inspiring artworks from acclaimed Australian artists.

“Step out and discover Central Park in Malvern East in a new way by exploring the large scale illuminated artworks, each with its own unique meaning and story. They truly ignite the imagination and it’s a great free night out.”

The eye-catching illuminated installations coming to Glow are:

EPHEMERAL COLLECTION 

The Ephemeral Collection was inspired by 2020 when the world stopped, and everything we took for granted started to disappear. Atelier Sisu endeavoured to communicate this feeling of transient beauty and the need to live in the moment.

CHOOSING PARADISE

Choosing Paradise is a dynamic wake-up call urging each of us to envision the future we want to create. Inspired by a vivid dream, this sculpture challenges us to imagine Utopia, to see the beauty and love we can choose instead of succumbing to life’s challenges.

ENCIRCLED ENLIGHTENMENT

In dark times, where clarity is diffuse, sounds are muffled, and nature waits for shards of light…heralds of light spring into existence to offer solace, balance and respite. Evolving to appear at pertinent times and places, personal insight is a consequence of their internal exchanges.

DELICATE DELIBERATIONS

It is often said that for every decision, conscious or otherwise, a new timeline is created that carries forth, itself branching out into other multiple possible futures, creating a complex system of junctures.

HEXADECA

HEXADECA is a participatory work empowering audiences to engage with art through tactile play.

Visitors of all ages can enjoy warming hot chocolate and delicious snacks while being immersed in the art, with food trucks on-site and local businesses from surrounding precincts offering Festival goers tasty refreshments on their journey to and from the event.
