Madagascar the Musical, Melbourne
It’s time to ‘move it, move it’ these school holidays, thanks to the brand new musical from Dreamworks: Madagascar the Musical!

Madagascar the Musical
If you’re already a fan of the movie (like us!), then you’ll know the story of Alex the Lion, Melman the Giraffe, Marty the Zebra and Gloria the Hippo.
Madagascar The Musical follows all those favourite crack-a-lackin’ friends as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar.

The costumes are fantastic, bringing the four main characters to life straight off the screen. Melman was our favourite, with his huge giraffe neck and goofy tongue hangy out, summing up his overly-cautious, worrywort nature perfectly.

The sets changed instantly before our eyes, transporting you from Central Park Zoo, to Manhatten City, crates on the ship and all the way to Madagascar.
The cheeky penguins are a highlight, adding that perfect touch of humour sprinkled throughout the performance with some great puppetry work.

Enter King Julien, who had the kids in stitches from the start. His entire performance is fantastic, catering to both adults and kids, injecting a huge amount of belly laughter that got the kids through the second half without a problem.
Of course, there’s dancing too! While there was plenty of rocking on the seats as familiar songs came on, at the end everyone was on their feet, shaking and grooving.

If you’re looking to keep the kids entertained these school holidays, a trip to Madagascar the Musical is something the whole family with love!
