Bendigo Pottery, Hands on Creative Fun for Families

Looking for a fun and creative thing to do in Bendigo with kids? Bendigo Pottery is one of the best family-friendly stops in Bendigo, especially if your kids love art, painting and hands-on activities. This was definitely one of our favourite activities during our trip.

Bendigo Pottery

Bendigo Pottery is known as Australia’s oldest working pottery, renowned for its historic wood-fired kilns and traditional stoneware. There are different types of activities on site, along with the galleries and shop.

We joined a glazing workshop where we could choose a mug, plate or bowl to glaze however we wanted. This was such a fun activity because everyone could get creative in their own way, choosing different colours and coming up with their own designs.

It was easy, relaxing and something a little different from the usual family attraction. We also loved that we were making something we could actually keep too, rather than just doing an activity and moving on.

We didn’t take it home on the day as it needs to be fired but the venue send it out in the post a couple of weeks later which is great.

Bendigo Pottery is a great option if you are looking for a Bendigo activity that is calm, creative and suitable for a range of ages. It gives kids the chance to slow down, make something with their hands and enjoy a more relaxed experience.

It is also a good one to mix into a Bendigo weekend, especially if you want a break from more active sightseeing.
